Registration for the 2021 Science Bowl Events Open Now
The Arizona Science Bowl is a regional event of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl®, a nationwide academic competition. The Science Bowl tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. Middle and high school student teams from diverse backgrounds are comprised of up to five students and a teacher who serves as an advisor and coach. These teams compete in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, being tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics, energy, and math. This year, the competition is going VIRTUAL! Information sessions will be held for coaches to provide them with an overview of the new rules and changes to accommodate an 100% online competition. Team Approval Process
Teams are approved on a first-come, first-served basis determined by the date/time stamp when the registration is submitted, with first teams taking precedence over second teams, and second teams taking precedence over third teams, with the goal of having as many different schools participating as possible.
Eligible first teams will be approved by the regional coordinator to participate as soon as possible after registering. Beginning 5 weeks prior to the regional event and space permitting, eligible second teams will be approved by the regional coordinator to participate. Beginning 3 weeks prior to the regional event and space permitting, eligible third teams will be approved by the regional coordinator to participate.
Notice to Coaches
This year’s policy for team acceptance has been set by the National Science Bowl. There will be NO changes or exceptions to this policy.
